Terrorist car, what does mapillary do?

(can’t find a good category)
What happens if a car goes around with some “fake” traffic signs? (Like photo up ^^)
Just wanted to know if mapillary will map if the car stops or map every single photo

(shall I try with my car?)

credits photo and signs

officinefabri for the 5kmh sign
signquick for the 5mph sign (USA)
not my car / not my photo

I hope nobody will do that. I would guess Mapillary will just recognize it as a road sign.
Is that even legal to have a sticker which looks like a road sign?

Thanks for the details.

It’s interesting, as I often capture while walking, and I’m pretty sure some signs will be captured right in front of a car (e.g. a truck or a lorry). In this case, it should recognize it as a sign. I’m not sure even I can do that each time correctly

So, the person with a sign on the car (image above) has to draw a pole to the sign, and that would be a worthy opponent.

Great catch, thanks @notmyproblem1

cc @Leonardo, I think (70% confidence) we have discussed this. And connected

Surprisingly, these (correctly) did not get detected as signs:

I would not have expected this. I even noted this location to check detections later. I guess the computer vision was trained with examples of signs that have poles/supports and contrasting edges? It would be interesting to know what the confidence/classification here was, because there sure are a lot of wrong detections from distant blurry signs that I can’t imaging having high confidence.

Excuse me if I repeat myself, but this one is still funny,
