Moderation backlog - badly positioned pictures

On Feb 16th, I reported to Mapillary that several sequences in Ghent, Belgium were very wrong. BE forum post and link to user/sequence.

My guess is the user messed up postprocessing on their end. Considering the number of affected images, it’s a pitty this stays up for as long as it did. If we could contact the user directly, they might just delete the sequences and upload them again from their end, however I believe that’s still not possible…

@joostjakob - thanks for flagging. Unfortunately it’s not possible to contact users directly, but as the next best thing you can “Report image” on mapillary.com for support to review or email support@mapillary.zendesk.com with information about the captures which look clearly incorrect for support to delete these. cc: @mhogan

Yeah, I reported the image back on Feb 16th, and still see no action being taken. So I just wondered if the moderation queue is that long or something went wrong with the request.

Indeed, moderation lags horribly. And, when it takes action it is imho quite inconsistent, especially with respect to the ToU.

@boris Right, some form of communication channel between contributors is badly needed. Like I have advocated for a very long time: It would be best to have Mapillary single sign on for the web app and forum. In other words, all Mapillary users sign up for the web app and forum at the same time. This way, forum private messages would solve this issue nicely. You could also nicely integrate the forum user profile into the Mapillary dashboard or vice versa. The web app could also link images to posts and PMs where they have been mentioned with a link. But, I guess I dream of electric :ewe:

@GITNE - I like that idea, and we have it on our backlog. Unfortunately I can’t confirm timelines quite yet due to competing priorities (improving core experience, detections, etc).

Hi @joostjakob! Apologies for the delay on those reported images. You should see them removed within 24 hours from now.

In the future, you are welcome to reach out to us directly at support@mapillary.zendesk.com and provide a list of sequence ids for us to remove for data quality reasons. It is not possible to report full sequences at this time, but I understand reporting images one by one can be quite time consuming, so we can take care of those sequences on our end.

Cheers,
Marcie

There really should be a faster and easier way to report sequences straight from the map.

Also, is it even worth reporting partially-misaligned sequences? For example, first couple dozen images are hundreds of meters away before user’s GPS gets a fix, but the remaining hundreds are fine. Do you even handle partial stuff like this?
