I used to upload GoPro Hero 10 videos as it had an internal GPS unit. It broke down and I upgraded to a Hero 12. The problem is this new camera doesn’t have an internal GPS. Anyway, I always record the track with a Garmin device, but I don’t know how to sync.
Is there any easy way to sync video and track before upload? I’ve tried the new Mapillary Uploader 5.0.2 with no success.
I’ve also tried with Bernd’s VGSync, but also with no luck to find an easy workflow.
if you have issues to use KVRouite ( VGSync) you can contact me directly, I will help you to use it.
We always work for an easy use, but sure the first use is allways a lil bit difficult.
The normal way is first to sync the start:
Load the video and gpx and bring the video to a good location you can easily find in the gpx like a roundabout a big corner or a pedestrian crossing. It’s good to use the mapbox map terrain view, than go the map, click on the point which match exactly to this point and press the sync button. After that the video is synced with the gpx and you can simply use AutoCutVideo&GPX Function to cut the start and or end or in the middle. If ready you can export the gpx and video. Reload both and check. That’s it.
Actual I work on some new features and after I finished I will do some YouTube tutorials.
Possibly with the command line mapillary_tools. Nice way to determine sync point is to start movie recording with an accurate clock in view. eg a mobile phone with time/second display.
I’m using JOSM (Java editor for OSM). You load your GPS track, yours pictures and a well referenced aerial view. JOSM usually suggest local aerial views on your area. Then, you synchronize your pictures with the track using pictures timestamp. You may adjust the time offset between GPS time and pictures/GoPro clock, using background aerial view.
