Arrows stop, even though line on map is continuous

Every time I browse imagery through seemingly continuous sequences, there’s always a point where one of the arrows disappears, and I’m obliged to select the next image from the map, which is super annoying. Example: when looking at these images and clicking the left arrow, there’s a point where the left arrow disappears and I’m obliged to choose the next image from the map, even though the images are from the same sequence and form a continuous line on the map.

And when I click the next image on the map, the right arrow disappears this time. It’s like there’s a separation between the images, even though they were filmed and uploaded in the same go. And if you keep going, this happens every now and then (see this image a few meters to the left for example).

This also happens on mobile (iOS) with the same images. Is this a bug? Or does this have to do with the way the images were captured/uploaded?

Hi @ilias , there are two things going on here:

  1. The bottom arrows you’re referring to only work well when structure from motion succeeds (which requires significant overlap between images). This is particularly challenging on side-facing imagery like the example you linked to. In this case, try using the arrows at the top instead to step through the capture - that works correctly in your example. We have work planned to improve and make these arrows more intuitive.

  2. In some cases you will still see a break because there is a limit to the number of images in one capture (currently 1,000 images, but previously 300). We also have work planned to transition this to “logical captures” so that this problem becomes less pronounced.
