Why small and big circles?

When watching my contributions (GoPro 360°) on the website, I can see small or big circles, depending on sequences.

Why?

Seems the UI update didn’t get implemented for all path types

I think this was maybe a temporary rendering issue? Here’s the location on Mapillary and I don’t see the big circles there, do you still see them?

I still see them with Firefox. Indeed, it seems to be browser specific:

Works good for me, and I’m also a Firefox user (using mac now), Version 128.0.

BR, Yaro

Using Firefox see both the small and the larger two-tone circles : turns out the small ones are for ‘flat’ photos, the larger two-tone ones for 360 pics : quite a nifty feature!!

In my case, I selected 360° view only. Indeed, the different circles are related to map update:

Big circles are associated with transient display while waiting for map update.

Just FYI @nikola, while the latest UI update is nice, it introduces an incoherent color pattern: The selected sequence is highlighted in turquoise on the map but in the feed it is tinted green. Nothing big but somewhat confusing.

That’s a great point @GITNE!

@nikola - what does it look like if instead of the light green color we use the turquoise from the selected sequence?

We’ve now updated the feed highlight color to match the map selected sequence appearance.
Also, we’ve updated the circle sizes for the sequences which are going through map update to match the rest of the circles on the map.

Super epic

Also can it also be possible to add a setting to make the circle hitbox bigger so it’s easier to click?

We recently updated the circle and line sizes to improve map visibility in areas with dense coverage so the circles are a bit smaller. They scale with the zoom level so zooming in should give you larger circles. Which zoom level are you having trouble with and how much bigger would the circles need to be to improve your experience?

Mostly at the highest zoom level.

If you could make the click box maybe 20% larger without changing the visible size of the circle that would be great.

Changing size of the circles is not the solution to the problem.
The problem is to convinient and fast way to filter desired data from lots of sequences accumulated over time. Its especialy problematic in big cities with active community.
For years way to filter data in mapillary interface havent changed alot. In the long run there will be only more and more sequences and more and more places will suffer the effect. If you want mapillary to be used not only by technicians and map geeks you need to address this problem.
There should be many ways to filter the data or differentiate the sequences. For now the interface to select dates is crude and inconvinient, you need to click alot. Maybe there should be some predefined time frames like (this year or last mont sequences?) Or the system should be dynamic like "integrate sequences from last year into one line). The ideas are countless but it need to be developed.

Hi @masterofnoroad - I agree, we have this on our backlog to improve the usability, filtering, and image browsing. Mapillary has a new UX designer joining shortly and this will be one of the items they will take a look at. Stay tuned!

I was thinking that making it similar to the system that google maps has could work. It would fix the circles issue by just making it an interactive line and you could easily switch between older and newer images.
