What 360 degree camera to buy?

Hey there!
So I am a student, but I really like OSM and Mapillary. Now I want to create better images with a 360 cam, but I dont know what to buy. It would be cool if I can mount it onto a bike and it should cost less than 300 euros. Any recommendations?

Bye, Pingu!

I would recommend the GoPro Max because… well it just works!

Trying out other 360 cameras is kind of a huge gamble on if they will end up gathering gps correctly or having good software. From my experience, you should avoid insta360 since they barely worked with mapillary at all.

Yes, the GoPro Max and the PanoX V2 are our current recommendations for consumer 360 cameras.

Enjoy capturing!

Are there any other, maybe more low cost alternatives?

I would maybe look at a used GoPro Max on ebay/facebook marketplace etc - you should be able to pick one up under 300 there.

Does Mapillary have guidance on recommended settings for the PanoX V2? I couldn’t find anything in the support pages.

Hi, I’m planning to buy a 360 camera, and I see that the GoPro Max is still the suggested one.
Anyway, in the GoPro website I doesn’t see it anymore available for buying: is it out of market?
Among the new ones, is there a good substitute for Mapillary, or should I look for used ones?

Seems that the GoPro max is currently out of stock, should be back soon.

I think GoPro is rather clearing shelves for the successor to the MAX.

But, if you still want to purchase a new MAX try Amazon, AliBaba, or other merchant selling via a portal instead of GoPro’s online shop. Depending on your location you may also find some in stock at your local electronics dealer or hypermarket.
