GoPro Max biking instructions and Orientation setting

Thank you Mapillary team for sharing your helpful GoPro MAX settings to record data while biking

Thanks especially to @asturksever for sharing your idea in a prior forum post to mount the GoPro Max on a selfie-stick in a rucksack / backpack to record while biking

I am helping new users in cycling advocacy groups in US cities of Boston, Hartford, and Indianapolis to contribute data to Mapillary, with support from a mini-grant from UCLondon. Here is a two-sided Google Doc with intro-level instructions I created for them based on your methods above, with Option 1 for 360 Time Lapse images and Option 2 for 360 Video (since some users also want to do video storytelling). Feedback welcome!

Question: Do you have recommended GoPro Max settings for Orientation? Choices are All (default), Landscape, Locked. Or does it not matter?

I believe “Landscape” is the safest setting - but might need to test a little bit to see if you have any problems with it. Generally the default should also be fine.

BTW - in your docs you say “Time Lapse Images every 0.5 seconds” - but I think you mean “Time Lapse Video every 0.5 seconds”

2 pager looks great!

Thank you for clarifying that Time Lapse is actually video, not images, and I’ll update that now on our 2-pager

I will do more testing with Orientation set to All vs Landscape, and feedback from others is welcome!
