How long does it takes for your captures to be finalize when uploaded?

How many hours does it take for captures to be finalized when uploaded?

Typically between 24 to 48 hours.

Thanks, Boris. I’ve noticed it can sometimes take a bit longer if the upload is large or the servers are busy, but 24–48 hours is usually the range.

Hi @boris , is it an idea to add realtime server load/process stats to the website? That will give an idea for the uploaders what the current load is (and the estimated processing time).

Unfortunately we cannot directly predict the processing time based on server load (beyond the 24-48 hour guideline). The exceptions are when we are actively having an issue, and for those we will post here on the forum.

I have a capture (4 photos) uploaded at 24 August 2025 and it is still in “map data processing”. Another capture has 139 photos, from 14 September 2025, and it has the same issue.

What can I do to solve these 2 problems?

Hi @AndreaDFC - unfortunately a small number of uploads may get “stuck” in a state like this. It’s something we’re working on improving. In the meantime if its creating problems for you, you could re-upload these captures and we’ll do another pass at processing them. cc: @balys

It is not a problem to wait, but I cannot reupload because I created them with your Android app, so I have not a backup.

I hope you will be able to do another pass without reuploading them.

Hi.

In the meantime the stuck uploads are increasing: now I have 6 uploads in “finalizing" since too much time (weeks and months).

Should I stop uploading in Mapillary? Is there a way to download them massively from the website and then reupload?

@AndreaDFC - I wouldn’t be too concerned about the “finalizing” status - this likely means that some object extractions may not have been completed, but the images are visible and public. :+1: We will continue to work to ensure the finalization is complete as often as possible of course.

Oh, great information! I thought that “finalizing" would mean that it is not public, but now you give me a beautiful correction. In this case I agree that it is not a big problem.

Thank you very much!
