Speaking of air, three weeks ago Australia recorded a new record high barometric pressure of 1044 hPa in Tasmania. And yesterday in Western Australia we had another rare high of 1039 hPa. Crazy.
Now that you mention it,
while barometric were fifty years ago all over the place,
now they are hard to find, I at least do not find them any more.

No need for barometers, thermometers, or any other sensors for that matter anymore. AI is going to hallucinate weather and everything else for you! You are hungry? Ask your AI bot how it feels to have a full stomach! You are sleepy? Ask your AI bot how dreams are! Human beings have become dispensable. 
Though, to be honest, I am not sure whether it is funny or sad anymore. Maybe I should ask an AI bot?

But seriously, the EU has been tightening air quality regulations for years now. Are they perfect? No. Should they be tighter? Maybe. Could they be implemented faster? Yes, especially because most of the implementation at neuralgic places falls into the hands of local governments, city councils, town, and village authorities, where budgets are chronically underfunded and institutions understaffed. Nevertheless, imho it borders on a miracle that 27 EU members have been able to agree on this critical issue at all. Despite the bureaucratic non-sense that large organization usually tend to produce, the EU has introduced many farsighted and positive regulations of which many parts of the world envy or aspire to. Lets just hope that all levels of administration continue to push for the implementation of clean air.
