iOS: 3rd party image import (6.8.0 is out)

In this update we add the functionality to import images. This feature till come to Android later this year.

Release notes:

  • Added support for importing images that have been captured using other camera apps or devices. You can access the image import tool from the Home view.

  • Misc minor UI tweaks

While we have tested images captured with a few different camera apps, we haven’t been able to test all apps, so please let us know if you run into problems with importing images and we’ll add support.

Sorry, finally getting to test it - and for some reason, geocoding of all the images I select from the library is off (from 20 to 2000 miles).

When I check the location assigned in the Photos app, it is shown correctly. Not sure if this is some sort of coordinate datum conversion issue

Thanks for testing! It’s a known bug and I have a fix ready, I’m just waiting for QA to test it. I’ll ping them

The import bug should be fixed now, pls update and try again if you have a minute and let me know if it works now

Thanks, just tested and at least one image that worked!

Although all others failed with “other errors”, not sure what caused it

Thanks for testing! How were the failing images captured? Can you send one or two of the failed images to me so I can see what’s wrong? I’ll add support for them if I can.

Just did some more testing: this is caused by low memory, when iOS can’t download the full res originals from iCloud to pass to mapillary. So it works as intended in preventing uploads of low res
