Which rules should I follow to ensure that the default view in Mapillary is always oriented in the direction of travel?
Equipment used: Insta360 X3, Insta360studio, Mapillary Desktop Uploader 5.0.3, separate GPX file.
Thanks

Just make sure you mount the camera with the front sensor facing forward when capturing. Then, when uploading normalize directions.
Or, if you want to reduce wind resistance mount the camera sideways. When uploading, offset normalized directions by either 90° or 270° (-90°).
Sorry for the very concise question that didn’t clearly explain the issue. I’m uploading 360-degree mp4 videos, not single images in sequence. I’ve tried several times but still haven’t found a way to set the front view as the default at the beginning, or to keep the front view aligned when the road curves.
Insta360 Studio can export mp4 files with or without front-view lock. The resulting videos do follow the front view if required, or maintain the same viewing angle if the lock isn’t enabled, but in both cases the front view displays incorrectly once the mp4 file is uploaded to Mapillary.
I also tried adding the direction angle to the GPX file using the Garmin <course> tag, but that workaround didn’t work either.
Insta360 x4 (512 gb pro sd card insta360, generic 128gb)
Insta360 studio
Downloaded the insta360 app, then I start recording with my phone, then the app locks the .gpx into the video, when I export I have my .gpx optional, and my gps into the video (so no off-platform gps)
PC I use for the .insv → .mp4 & for uploading: Acer Aspire 3 15 (Amd Ryzen 7 , 5000 Series, aka Amd Ryzen 7 5700U w/Radeon Graphics | Disc SAMSUNG MZVL4512HBLU-00BTW 475 GB
From when do you add a front view? I don’t add a front view cuz… mapillary know that’s a 360 and has no front view
I’m just wondering if there is a way to set Mapillary playback to show the travel direction by default, or if there is some workaround when uploading 360 degrees MP4 files, so that the automatic playback follows the driving direction and keeps it consistent along road curves.
@borgofum - this is a mapillary playback issue. We are aware of it, and have it on our backlog to address for the future. Thank you for noting it, agreed it should be resolved.
