Yes.
It will never connect indoors, also on all my other GoPro’s/phones/etc. Put the device outside en leave it there for 10/15 minutes, that’s more than enough for a stable connection. If the GPS icon still isn’t blue than the device if faulty.
I return with great news!
Edit question:
Also is it possible to detect if the GPS is connected from the Quik app?
No, unfortunately. The GPS symbol will not change in the Quick App (In my opinion that’s stupid, I would like to have this feature!)
I have good news, I think you actually can see if the GPS connected from the app!
Top one is after shutting it down and then powering it up again, and the bottom one is during driving.
So basically you’re saying the “map pin” icon should be the same light gray as the other icons around it, and not the darker gray?
Light grey versus grey on a dark grey background
Excellent UI design choices!
Other modern UI blunders…
Retina displays and ClearType have ruined pixel alignment of UI elements. The first to die were fonts. Then, bitmaps died.
I weep for the gone beauty of pixel aligned UI elements. But, nobody has time for beauty on screens any longer, I guess. ![]()
Also mind you that GoPro doesn’t ever specify what the color of the gps icon means in the app or manuals anywhere (at least from what I can see :V)
I think it’s a bit tricky. They should use the same icons as on the device itself (blue when GPS locked).
