A challenge to collect imagery in the heart of Brasília.
Dates: November 12th - December 31st, 2017
#CompletetheMap is a challenge we launched to capture as much imagery in a given area as possible. A grid is chosen and participants compete to win zones by being the one with the most imagery. Since launching the concept of #CompletetheMap in May, we have run a total of 10 challenges in cities across Europe and the Americas. The challenges have helped to focus community efforts on a particular part of the city, meaning a denser collection of imagery over a shorter period of time.
As the challenge moves to Brasília, we would like to link the image capture that’s taking place with the opportunity it creates for detailed map editing of the city. The Brasília challenge will thus focus on drivable roads with an end goal of capturing road characteristics such the direction of travel, speed limits, and the number of lanes. As images come in, a simultaneous editing challenge will be running to encourage map edits that make use of the new data. You can take a look at the edit challenge here.
There is one final change of note. Previous challenges have encouraged individuals to compete to win zones within the grid area. To emphasise the collection of useful map data, this challenge will be a collective effort, meaning the total of imagery collected will be more important than any individual achievements.

The Challenge
A grid has been created to roughly match the shape of a plane on which Brasília is designed. This will ensure that useful data to map both road characteristics and points of interest in the central part of Brasília is gathered. There are a total of 86 zones.
To participate in the challenge, simply capture imagery of drivable roads within the grid area between November 12th at 00:00 Brasília time and December 31st 23:59. If you’d like a mount so that you can secure your phone to your windshield and take photos while you drive, just comment below.

The Rules
How do I enter the challenge?
Anyone capturing within the grid will automatically participate in the challenge. You don’t need to sign up for your images to be counted.
The Grid
The zones will be updated daily with a color reflecting the percentage of roads and paths that have been captured in that zone. Red will represent 20% or less of coverage, yellow between 20% and 80%, and green greater than 80%. In this challenge we’ll be including existing coverage in this calculation. This will help draw attention to areas of the map that are yet to be covered.
Rankings & Updates
We’ll be maintaining a live page with the results that you can visit any time here. As usual, you’ll also be able to get updates on Twitter and Facebook.
How to win
As mentioned above, the dynamics of the Brasília challenge will be a little different. The emphasis in this challenge is on the collective achievement of all contributors rather than the individual. The objective will be to complete the map with as much quality, useful imagery as possible.
Invite Friends
If you would like to invite your friends to take part in the challenge, all they have to do is capture within the grid area and they will automatically appear on the leaderboard. If they want to stay updated, make sure they subscribe to our email updates and follow the #CompletetheMap hashtag on Facebook and Twitter.

Um desafio para coletar imagens no coração de Brasília.

#CompletetheMap (should we translate the tag as well? Would be #CompleteoMapa) é um desafio que lançamos para ganhar zonas sendo o mapeador com mais imagens. Desde o lançamento do conceito de #CompletetheMap em maio, nós tivemos um total de 10 desafios em cidades pela Europa e Américas. Os desafios nos ajudaram a focar esforços comunitários em uma parte específica da cidade, o que gerou uma coleção mais densa de imagens em um período menor de tempo.
Com o desafio em Brasília, gostaríamos de atrelar a captura de imagens que está acontecendo com a oportunidade que isso nos dá é criar edições de mapa detalhadas. O foco do desafio será as ruas e estradas, e com isso levantaremos dados como direção, limites de velocidade, quantidade de faixas de rolamento. À medida que as imagens forem entrando, um desafio de edição simultâneo estará encorajando os usuários a fazer edições utilizando estes dados. Você pode ver detalhes do desafio de edição aqui.
Uma observação final importante. Desafios anteriores encorajaram pessoas a competir para ganhar zonas na área marcada. Para enfatizar a coleta de imagens que sejam úteis para mapeamento, este desafio será um esforço coletivo, o que significa que o total de imagens coletadas será mais importante que conquistas individuais.

O desafio
A marcação foi criada seguindo aproximadamente o formato de avião que Brasília tem. Isso fará com que sejam coletados dados úteis das estradas e de pontos de interesse na parte central de Brasília. Há um total de 86 zonas.
Para fazer parte deste desafio, simplesmente capture imagens de ruas dentro da área entre a meia noite do dia 12 de novembro e 23:59 do dia 31 de dezembro. Se você precisar de um suporte de celular para seu para-brisa ou bicicleta para tirar fotos enquanto dirige ou pedala, comente abaixo.

Regras
Como participar do desafio?
Qualquer pessoa contribuindo com imagens na área demarcada já estará participando do desafio automaticamente. Não é necessário se inscrever numa página específica.
Área
As zonas serão atualizadas diariamente com uma cor refletindo o percentual de ruas e caminhos que já tiveram fotos capturadas. Vermelho representará 20% ou menos de cobertura, amarelo entre 20% e 80%, e verde mais que 80%. Neste desafio já incluiremos as fotos existentes para chegar nos percentuais. Isto ajudará a chamar atenção para áreas do mapa que ainda precisam de maior cobertura.
