# Videos settings best to use

I’ve finally got a action cam and plan on using video to upload with the GPS gathered from my phone but was wondering what are the best settings to use is 1080p plenty or is 4k recommended or does it make no difference once processed and what sort of frame rate is everyone using?
The only other things I’d love to know what people recommend is how often do I need to log a GPS position when walking?

Generally speaking the higher resolution the better, because (say) OSM users will want to zoom up on details like (distant) signs and object recognition will be more reliable.
Also generally a video has more possible compression artefacts than a still image, so if the frame rate is “good enough”, then that is a better choice. Compression artefacts effectively blur the image.
There is am optimum “frame rate” in metres/sec that has been mentioned a few times in this forum. Walking will then of course be less frames per second than driving. @boris would you please state that number again?
The GPS logging default is often one per second. Mapillary processing does indeed interpolate the GPS position and (optionally) the viewing direction so for a reasonably straight route without slewing (IMO) it will be quite adequate. If the risk of slew is high then more positions will be helpful.

I export in 4k/8k at bitrate 200 and I still can’t see anything

@Daniturn3 - which camera specifically are you using? Of course generally the highest resolution and highest density is best, but at minimum you should try for 1 image every 3 meters.
