Upload failed. Sorry! Something went wrong

Hi, everyone!
I have a version 2.0.2 Windows uploader and recently was uploading several hundred thousand photos to Mapillary (long road trip).
But now I am constantly getting this upload error and can not get any further with uploads.
I looked in the log file and found this:

This is not helpful to me and I don’t know how to fix this. The uploader just don’t work =(
Reinstalled it several times, tried different image sets, all the same, it just stops with an error on the upload phase.
Does someone know how to solve it?
Thank you!

Mapillary Desktop Uploader does not work with Windows 32 bits

I have the same problem and Mapillary Team do not warn about this in the d/l page of MDU. :rage: :rage: :rage:

But I have 64bit windows 10. :slight_smile:

Uninstalled it again, cleaned the registry, and deleted all Mapillary leftover files from system folders. And then made a fresh new install.
Trying with a smaller image set (7913 images) and still getting the same error.
Is anything could be done to fix it?
This 2.0.2 uploader worked before. And now it’s not =(

Hey @maxfromhell , could you send a few sample images to “support at mapillary.zendesk.com” for us to investigate?

@tao Just sent them and also the full log file.

I’ve reported a similar error to the Zendesk but I’ve worked out what the problem is. I was able to process and upload my photos using the --overwrite_all_EXIF_tags option of the command line tool GitHub - mapillary/mapillary_tools: Command line tools for processing and uploading Mapillary imagery because it turns out my Camera was inserting a “Description” field whereas Mapillary is trying to use the “ImageDescription” field for it’s JSON.

Looking at EXIFTool -j for the badly processed file:

  "ImageDescription": "Photo",
  "Caption-Abstract": "Photo",
  "Description": "Photo",

Using the overwrite EXIF option:

 "ImageDescription": "{\"MAPSettingsUsername\": \"XXX\", [etc.]",
 [...]
 "Caption-Abstract": "Photo",
 "Description": "Photo",

Thank you, @maxious.
But images are from the same camera that was processed before without any problem, I have not changed any part of my upload routine, but it just stopped working.
Also, these tags seem to be not filled in my images.
I think I will wait for a reply from @tao as I am not very familiar with Github and command line stuff.

Hi, @tao Any updates on the problem?
The support replied to me in the email that they closed the ticket and you will look into the problem further and reply in this thread.
I’ve tried to install the 2.0.3 version, it worked two times and then having a new problem that totally prevents any uploads. (Page not found)

Thank you so much…

Thanks and regards.

Desktop uploader 2.0.4 is now out and it includes fixes for the antivirus warnings that prevented installing or running on Windows in the past.

Try it out and let us know if you encounter any problems during upload.

Please send the log file and a sample image when you can’t upload to support@mapillary.zendesk.com and we’ll figure out what’s the cause of the problem/
