I’m from Fondi, a town near Rome. Thank you. I’m using an Insta360 in interval photo mode (unfortunately, this camera requires at least 7 seconds between shots, so the interval between photos is 7 seconds). I built a more accurate GPS myself using an ESP32 microcontroller and a dual-frequency TAU1201 GPS module. I record the track on an SD card and then, in post-processing, I add the GPS positions to the photos. The phone’s GPS doesn’t work well in narrow streets of small towns, but with this system it performs better. I’m also trying to further improve it by adding inertial navigation modules. I work a lot with OpenStreetMap, so I mainly use Mapillary for OpenStreetMap purposes and also to promote my local area. I’ve also started experimenting a bit with OpenSFM. ---

GPX tracks can be subsequently aligned using aerial photographs or OpenStreetMap Carto with the help of the JOSM editor. This works much more accurately in narrow streets than any satellite reception. Provided, of course, that you follow a previously planned route exactly. If you reduce Insta Remote GPX track nodes by a factor of 10 beforehand, the subsequent alignment using JOSM will be significantly easier. Despite this simplification, you won’t lose any video frames, as Mapillary automatically interpolates missing GPX points afterward. ---

I think I’ll use the time-lapse video mode once I figure out how to mount the camera on myself for biking or riding a scooter. When I’m on foot, I use the interval photo mode to get the highest resolution possible. I already use JOSM with Bing aerial imagery to adjust the photo positions. The GPS track helps me get an already fairly accurate trace, which makes post-processing much faster. Also, I don’t connect the Insta360 to my smartphone in order to preserve the battery on both devices. ---

You don’t even have to reduce the GPX density like with the Insta Remote. When you’re on the go, you need a navigation system. Two things solved at once. By the way, your work is very good ---

how much it costs for you to send me that gps ? (italy, border tuscany liguria) xD
