Hi! I consider buying an Insta360 x6 for Mapillary coverage. Does anybody has experience with the camer or are there even already sequences on Mapillary to watch?

Already out another Insta360? they produce it faster than iOs compan- umm.. I got an X4

@HylianTraveller - generally speaking what we say in the help center is "The Insta360 X Series camera are popular consumer-grade 360° cameras. However, we do not recommend using these cameras for Mapillary as the workflow required is cumbersome and the cameras do not have reliable GPS support.
Our recommended 360 camera is the GoPro MAX Series because the it has built-in GPS and is natively natively supported by the Mapillary Desktop Uploader and Command Line Tools. Nonetheless, it is also possible to use the Insta360 X series cameras with a bit of effort and patience."

Ah, that’s an interesting point, so your workflow is mainly via video capturing?
Indeed, new models are approaching fast. What is making me consider this new model is the larger sensor. As coming from professional full-frame cameras, those small sensors are a bit of a disappointment for me. I wanted to ensure that signs around are legible, which was a big problem of older models. As I am taking also images of events etc. a 360° recording might be a new step into documenting 
Yeah, don’t worry :). My old workflow was with a Sony a7R V taking pictures and recreate the paths via QGIS :P. It takes a lot of time, but at least the paths are clean :3. The GoPro Max 2 is better, the GoPro Max (I guess) was awful IMO.
The big disadvantage of the GoPro is the smaller sensor with its quality. The Insta360 x6 comes with 2 sensors and 1/1.1" size square, while the GoPro has 1/2.3" and SAR 4:3 or so​
. So we have a remarkable difference in quality, with is relevant to Mapillary and capturing

Hi there, my Mapillary posts over the last few weeks have all been captured with an Insta360 X6. Look for the username “Hikerandy”. Most of the photos are in Interval mode at maximum resolution. A few are done in Timelapse video mode with 0.5 s between individual frames. You will need to record GPS data simultaneously with a different device and add them to the images / video later. Also, there is no initial compass heading in the image or video files, and when you submit the images to Mapillary, the extrapolated image direction is not always accurate. Hope this helps!
