Android Open Testing: Android 16 (6.14.2)

You could try clearing the cache.

And as a last resort, you could uninstall the app completely and reinstall it.

Given that you’ve mentioned that the other apps that require GPS are working fine.

When the app receives Location, it has a confidence score (accuracy). The mobile app checks whether it is in reasonable bounds; I think it was around 35 or 40 meters. You see this dialog when you either don’t have Location enabled or it’s just not good enough (often times inside a building, sometimes in big cities, etc.).

@une_abeille - another thing I see in your screenshot is that your device doesn’t seem to have internet connectivity (evidenced by the “!” in the top right) - do you have a connection on this device?

The problem persisted even with a 4G connection. But I keep it deliberately turned off and it does not impact GPS connectivity on any other app.

The next time you can’t capture due to “bad GPS”, can you check the GPS accuracy?

There are many free apps that can do this, for instance https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest&hl=en_GB (or any other app that you prefer that show the accuracy in meters).

We use this value to determine if the GPS is good enough or not.

As another bug report, the app serves me map tiles with Arabic (?) place names:

This may be at a higher level than the app itself, as link previews for Facebook links are also in Arabic on my device. As my IP is in Canada, I’m not sure why.
